Standard Liege 0-0 Sevilla FC

Standard Liege put aside their recent troubles to hold reigning Europa League champions Sevilla to a goalless draw at the Stade Maurice Dufrasne.
Sevilla came closest to breaking the deadlock when Kevin Gameiro struck a post in the second half and it was the Spanish side who looked the more likely winners as the game entered its closing stages.
However, Standard stayed firm and might even have snatched a last-gasp winner before settling for a draw that moves them on to four points in Group G, one behind Sevilla who remain in first place after Feyenoord suffered a surprise defeat to Rijeka.
Home supporters must have feared the worst coming into the match against an in-form Sevilla side who are second in La Liga behind Barcelona after winning six of their opening eight games.
Standard, in contrast, had lost seven of their last 13 matches in all competitions and were on course for another defeat when Sunday's home league game against Zulte-Waregem was abandoned in the 89th minute due to crowd trouble with the rock-bottom visitors leading 2-1.
Standard coach Guy Luzon stepped down on Monday, with his assistant Ivan Vukomanovic placed in temporary charge and the new boss saw his side battle hard for a point on Thursday night.
Sevilla enjoyed the better of the few first-half opportunities, with Jose Antonio Reyes drawing an early parry out of home goalkeeper Yohann Thuram-Ulien, who later in the half was called on to save a Gameiro header, albeit without too much trouble.
The Belgian side barely had a shot in anger before the break, but they tested Sevilla custodian Antonio Beto immediately after half-time with a 25-yard effort from Geoffrey Mujangi Bia.
Adrien Trebel, Paul-Jose M'Poku and Mujangi Bia then all had further attempts as Standard stepped up a gear at the start of the second period before Sevilla started to gain the upper hand again.
Gameiro sent a header wide before the France international came within inches of opening the scoring when his 62nd-minute shot from the edge of the box struck a post.
That was the last action Gameiro saw, with Carlos Bacca immediately being sent on his place, and the newcomer had a chance to be a late hero following great work by fellow substitute Gerard Deulofeu, but the Colombia international could not keep his shot down.
Standard also had a chance to snatch the spoils in the final minutes, but Jorge Teixeira and Vinicius Araujo - with the goal at his mercy - could not convert their opportunities as the match finished goalless.
