Daley Blind saves point for Manchester United against West Brom

Louis van Gaal is still searching for a first away win as Manchester United manager as his side were held by West Brom in a pulsating 2-2 draw on Monday.

Stephane Sessegnon gave Alan Irvine's side the early lead with a thunderous strike before Marouane Fellaini levelled with an equally brilliant effort shortly after half time - his first goal for the club. Saido Berahino outpaced Rafael to slide West Brom back in front before Daley Blind's first United goal earned his club a share of the spoils, with the Dutchman curling in a late equaliser at the Hawthorns.

United got off to a sloppy start and Sessegnon really should have done better threading the ball through to Berahino, although he soon atoned for that particular misjudgement. Andre Wisdom found space down the right flank and pulled the ball back to the edge of the United area, where Sessegnon found the top corner of David De Gea's net with his first-time, laced effort.

Berahino went close to converting James Morrison's cross, while Angel Di Maria provided brief moments of flair for United. The Argentine forced Boaz Myhill into a save from close-range before testing the West Brom goalkeeper again with a rasping effort.

Juan Mata wasted a chance to pull United level when he skied a free-kick high and wide and, at the other end, Joleon Lescott put his header over the crossbar shortly before the break.

Fellaini was introduced for Herrera at the interval and, just two minutes and 35 seconds after replacing the Spaniard, he had United level. Di Maria's cross found its way to Fellaini, who brushed aside Lescott before smashing the ball through Myhill and high into the net to mark his first goal for the club since his 27.5 million pound move from Everton last year.

Fellaini almost made it two in quick succession when just missing out on a deep cross, before the in-form Berahino fired the home side back in front on 66 minutes with his sixth Premier League goal of the season. The striker latched onto a defence-splitting pass and outpaced Rafael to curl the ball beyond the grasp of De Gea -- despite a last-ditch scream from the defender to try and put him off.

Robin van Persie's snapshot came back off the inside of the post before Januzaj blasted the rebound over the crossbar. Radamel Falcao was brought off the bench as United searched for an equaliser, which ultimately came from an unlikely source.

Rafael's late cross was cleared out only as far as Blind, who curled the ball precisely around Myhill to earn his side a share of the spoils amid a frantic finish.
