Distinta suerte tuvo el Sunderland de Gus Poyet, que de visita en St Andrews Stadium goleó 3-0 al Birmingham, con tantos de Jordi Gómez, Adam Johnson y Connor Wickham. Stoke City se deshizo del Portsmouth, con doblete de Jonathan Walters y uno de Peter Crouch para el 3-0. Y el Queens Park Rangers de Harry Redknapp perdió por 1-0 en casa del Burton. Además, avanzó el Bradford con la victoria 2-1 sobre Leeds United.
